Ep 52: Accept No Limitations with Laura Ellis
Listen on…
Why do we often try to hide our physical limitations as Group Fitness Instructors?
Diversity in fitness is SO incredibly important. Often when we think of diversity, we focus on culture, ethnicity, body shape or age. But another crucially important area, particularly in fitness, is disabilities and physical limitations.
As Group Fitness instructors, we are often programmed to hide our physical limitations or believe we aren't worthy if we can't do a tuck jump - but this couldn't be further from the truth!
Today’s podcast guest is Laura Ellis, a SH1FT Instructor. As you're going to hear, Laura was diagnosed with scoliosis at 11 years of age, and she’s been dealing with her back problems ever since. But that hasn't stopped her from pursuing her dream of working in the Fitness Industry and meaningfully changing the lives of her community.
Laura talks about the transformation she has gone through from hiding her scoliosis to proudly showing what her body can do.
One of the most important things we can do as Fitness Instructors is inspire other people into movement. And sometimes one of the most inspiring things we can do is be authentic and transparent about our own limitations (or what other people may view as limitations), showing that we do not let those limit us.
