SH1FT STAR: Jess Soto

Meet Jess! Jess features in this month's SH1FT release THE CHOP and is set to appear in a future M1ND release too.

Jess has worked in the fitness industry for over a decade as a PT, but it was only after she discovered SH1FT that she moved into teaching small group classes. When we set out to create SH1FT, we wanted to create a solution that worked for both experienced instructors and PTs or those new to teaching Group Fitness and it makes us so happy to see our community thriving when they make the transition from PT to Instructor.

Jess brings a ton of experience, passion and grit to the cast of these workouts and we’re so excited to introduce this talented woman to you all!

I'm an international trainer from Philadelphia Pennsylvania currently living in Wakefield UK. I’ve been a PT since 2011 - I studied fitness in university as a minor and it's been a part of my life ever since.  For me fitness has had a big positive impact on my mental health and so it has become a non negotiable in my daily life. As a coach it is my philosophy to have experienced fitness modality to truly understand it as a coach, Which is why I have done fitness and powerlifting competitions placing in both. For me my work is a lifestyle that I love, which is why it has been my focus for the last 11 years.

2. Where/how do you teach?

I teach online PT clients as well as small group in person

My favorite thing about SH1FT is how easy it makes my job as a trainer/instructor. Prep time is low, the classes are fun. I love the variety it brings to my coaching and gives me time to focus on interacting with clients. I also love Will and what SH1FT stands for as a company dedicated to improving work for its coaches.

5. What does 'fitness for life' mean to you?

Fitness for life means it's a lifestyle. It means being strong and healthy for the rest of my life.

6. How has SH1FT improved your life and teaching?

SH1FT has been my first intro to group classes and it has made the transition seamless and fun and also opened my teaching into a different style of training which I love.
