DECEMBER SH1FT STAR: Kayla
Meet this month's SH1FT STAR, Kayla Bonina, from Boca Raton, Florida! Kayla is a sports lover through and through — volleyball, tennis, dance, softball, basketball; you name it, she played it and that’s why she was the perfect face for our SP1KE workout promo and contributor to writing the workout! She carries 16 different certifications and offers a wide variety of fitness services ranging from personal training-individual, group and online to boot camp and nutrition plans. Kayla was named BeachBody LIVE Master Trainer of the year in 2019.
WHY WE LOVE KAYLA
Kayla is an integral part of the SH1FT community and we absolutely love her! She also specializes in teaching fitness in heels, which is just awesome. We love that she whole-heartedly believes in making lifestyle changes, because there are no shortcuts to health and fitness. Her passion truly shines through in her teaching!
Without futher ado, meet Kayla:
1. Tell us about yourself:
My name is Kayla Bonina. I have been in the fitness industry 10 years and love what I do. I have a college degree in psychology and played collegiate volleyball and tennis. SP1KE was super fun to help make with my background and love of volleyball.
I love to travel, love Disney, and have Dallas Cowboys season tickets which is my favorite thing to go and do. I’m on a streak of 76 straight home games haha!
2. Where/how do you teach?
I teach in Longview Texas at Anytime Fitness. I also own my own virtual gym Club KB and teach there as well. I’m also the Group Fitness Coordinator at my gym so all of that keeps me busy!
3. What’s your favourite SH1FT workout?
Besides SP1KE, I LOVE GRID1RON..
4. What's your favourite thing about SH1FT?
I love how different sports are included in different workouts and it feels athletic. As a retired athlete, it makes me feel like I am having fun while I’m working out doing the workouts like GRID1RON, WORLD SERIES etc. I love how each one is so different, so there is something for everyone!
5. What does 'fitness for life' mean to you?
Fitness for life to me means a lifelong commitment to staying active. There are no quick fixes in fitness. It’s a lifestyle change and staying consistent is key to having a long and healthy life.
6. How has SH1FT improved your life and teaching?
It’s given me a platform to do what I love virtually and in-person. It has made teaching fun and enjoyable for me and brought sparkle and energy to my classroom. I have personally gotten in my best shape doing the workouts and it’s great to be apart of a brand and family that cares so much about its instructors and students.
